چکیده
Objective: To compare the frequency of good to excellent quality bowel preparation before colonoscopy in PEG versus sodium phosphate. Study Design: Randomized Controlled Trial. Setting: Department Gastroenterology, Doctors Hospital and Medical Center, Lahore Pakistan. Period: March 2019 December 2019. Material & Methods: 180 patients was selected by non-probability consecutive sampling randomly divided two groups: group A (4L polyethylene glycol (PEG) a split dose fashion, i.e. 2L day 2 L given 4-6 hours colonoscopy) B (2 doses 20ml phosphate 12hours apart using random number table. The attending gastroenterologist scored different segment colon cleansing Boston Bowel Preparation Scale (BBPS). Data collected is analyzed Statistical Package Social Sciences (SPSS). Results: Among 90 who used as agent, 75 (83.3%) patient showed result compared with revealed following 71 (78.9%). p value 0.44 revealing that there no significant difference among both agents. Conclusion: Sodium can be an alternative agent most settings where cannot either due preference or its side effects.

BACKGROUND The aim of this prospective study was to compare the efficacy and patient compliance of an oral high dose of bisacodyl plus water lavage and oral sodium phosphate in adults undergoing elective colonoscopy. METHODS A total of 276 patients were randomized to receive an oral high-dose bisacodyl preparation (6 tablets of 5mg bisacodyl) plus water lavage (2 L of water) or an oral sodium...

METHOD Eighty patients were prospectively randomized for precolonoscopic cleansing either with 750ml of 10% mannitol (Group M) or 180ml of a sodium phosphate preparation (Group NaP). Laboratory examinations before and after preparation on all patients included hemoglobin, hematocrit, sodium, potassium, phosphorous, calcium and serum osmolarity. A questionnaire was used to assess undesirable sid...
متن کاملBowel Preparation for Colonoscopy with Sodium Phosphate Solution versus Polyethylene Glycol-Based Lavage: A Multicenter Trial
BACKGROUND Adequate bowel preparation is essential for accurate colonoscopy. Both oral sodium phosphate (NaP) and polyethylene glycol-based lavage (PEG-ELS) are used predominantly as bowel cleansing modalities. NaP has gained popularity due to low drinking volume and lower costs. The purpose of this randomized multicenter observer blinded study was to compare three groups of cleansing (NaP, NaP...
متن کاملA Prospective Randomized Controlled Trial of AJG522 versus Standard PEG + E as Bowel Preparation for Colonoscopy
Polyethylene glycol- (PEG-) based bowel preparations for colonoscopies are often poorly tolerated due to the large volumes of fluid intake required. We compared low-volume "modified" PEG + ascorbic acid (AJG522) with standard PEG with electrolytes (PEG+E) in addition to a stimulant laxative and an agent to improve bowel function for the bowel cleansing before colonoscopy to evaluate its efficac...
